After a fun first day experiencing FIFA Women’s World Cup, we couldn’t wait to see what Friday had in store, and boy, did the fans come out in full force! Everyone was wearing their colours loud and proud. And yet, it was the camaraderie between the fans that really struck a chord. It was a joy to sit back and watch the fans show their love for the game regardless of what team they were rooting for. That never gets old. Here are a few highlights…
We can’t get enough of the cross-border love.
And certainly not enough of the patriotic pride.
It was awesome to see so many girls dancing and cheering.
Even the players were getting in on the action.
And the “U-S-A!” chant was alive and kicking.
The passion for pretzels still remains high.
The snack of the games!
While a jersey swap happened right in front of us. These Swedes really wanted some Nigerian green.
Swapping shirts is a sign of respect & mutual admiration. These men are continuing that tradition.
We came bearing gifts for fans…
This family from Oklahoma said they are just LOVING Winnipeg and all the friendly people! They received tickets to the Children’s Museum.
A couple of Aussie fans will be heading over to the Winnipeg Art Gallery to see the mighty Olympus exhibit.
These girls are going to see the polar bears at the Assiniboine Park Zoo.
Thank you Assiniboine Park Zoo, Children’s Museum, Winnipeg Art Gallery, Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Royal Canadian Mint, The Manitoba Museum and Red River Ex for providing passes to give out to fans at the games.
You can still get tickets to some of the games via ticketmaster.ca, but hurry, they’re selling fast!
