    Known as the “city built on rock”, there’s a lot more to Flin Flon than its mining past. Nestled into the vast wilderness of northern Manitoba, Flin Flon is a surprising city that is alive with arts, culture and outdoor adventure.

    Named after Josiah Flintabbatey Flonatin, the central character in the science fiction novel The Sunless City, Flin Flon is home to an eclectic community known for its active arts scene and cultural activities. Annual festivals like the Blueberry Jam Festival and the Trout Festival bring locals and visitors together in a celebration of music and all things community.

    Located eight hours north of Winnipeg, Flin Flon is the perfect destination for a long weekend family road trip. It’s also home to one of the province’s only functioning drive-in theatres, which opens up every spring.

    Outdoors enthusiasts will marvel at Flin Flon’s lush wilderness, with nearby cottage rentals and campgrounds that offer incredible access to some of the best boating, fishing and swimming experiences that the province has to offer.
