Selkirk

The City of Selkirk established in 1882. Selkirk, the busy hub of the Red River North Tourism region. Once a significant inland port, Selkirk still honours its maritime roots - be sure to visit the Marine Museum, a showcase of boats which once plied the waters of Lake Winnipeg.

The Marine Museum leads you to Selkirk Park, a prime destination for picknicking, swimming, shore fishing, and camping. A boat launch, skatepark, trails system and canoeing/kayaking facilities complement the inviting green spaces and peaceful river views of this popular park.

Nearby you’ll find the waterfront with its historical plaques and York Boat sculpture, the site of summer concerts and other activities. Stroll Manitoba Avenue - with its boomtown - fronted buildings, it has served as a location for numerous movies.

The modern Gaynor Family Regional Library offers year-round access to tourism information. Here you can read more about the rest of Red River North, a region steeped in history and famous for its recreational opportunities and special events.

The Red River is a sight to see in the winter months in Selkirk with hundreds of ice fishing shacks set up like a small town.

Selkirk is the place to visit year-round and it's only 20 minutes North of Winnipeg!
