Upper Fort Garry Gate

This is the only remnant remaining of Upper Fort Garry, built by the Hudson's Bay Company in the 1830's at the forks of the Red and Assiniboine rivers. The history of the site includes Ambroise Didyme Lepine's role in the Red River Resistance of 1869-70, which ended in the creation of Manitoba.

Location: South of Broadway off Fort Street.
