Circle of Life Thunderbird House

The Circle of Life Thunderbird House (Anishinaabemowin: Whaka Pimadiziiwii Pinaysiiwigamic) is an Indigenous community centre, event venue and ceremony grounds located in the heart of Winnipeg's inner city. It is a Centre of Excellence for teaching and sharing traditional Indigenous spirituality under the guidance of our Council of Elders. It is the Spiritual Heart for all Elders, Healers, Teachers, and Helpers in the Indigenous community. Teachings of Kindness, Sharing, Honesty and Traditional Beliefs can be found within the circle at Thunderbird House. We provide a space for Winnipeg's First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities, as well as all peoples within the broader community of the inner city Village, to gather for ceremony, feasts, meetings, conferences, weddings, memorials and events of all kinds. We have a fully furnished sweat lodge compound where we offer the only public community sweat ceremonies within the city. Our internationally recognized building was created by celebrated architect Douglas Cardinal, who infused the design with the sacred principles and iconography of Indigenous teachings.
