Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre

The largest collection of marine reptile fossils in Canada is less than 90 minutes south of Winnipeg at the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre in Morden, Manitoba and it’s your opportunity to see some of the most amazing and ferocious toothed beasts to ever exist.

Open seven days a week a visit to the CFDC showcases the wonder that is the Guinness Record holding ‘Bruce’ the mosasaur – at more than 13 metres long this T-Rex of the sea consumed everything in its path and now it is waiting for you to get up close and personal.

Everything you see at the CFDC is 100 percent Manitoba and every year our Fossil Crew of field technicians brings in a new treasure trove of fossils just waiting for you.

The CFDC is the perfect place to spend a day, a weekend, or a week; on your own, with a friend or the whole family. Besides the myriad of fossil and geology displays at the museum the CFDC gives you a chance to become a paleontologist and join our crew on an actual fossil dig.

There’s programming for children, VIP museum tours that take you behind the scenes and much more just a short drive south of Winnipeg. Once here you can enjoy the beauty of historic Morden – a true oasis city on the prairie with fantastic shops, music festivals and restaurants as well as a great beach and campground at Lake Minnewasta and only minutes from the Pembina Valley Provincial Park – home to spectacular raptors including Bald Eagles and Red Tail Hawks…great for hiking, photography and bird watching.

Come on down to the CFDC – Bruce is waiting for you!
