Boreal Discovery Centre

Honoring its location on Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation territory, the Boreal Discovery Centre seeks, through education and conservation, to respect the lands, fauna, and waters for their life-giving bounty.

When completed, the Boreal Discovery Centre will be a destination for families, students, local residents and visitors to see and learn year-round about the boreal forest, including plant life, wolves, caribou, lynx, owls and eagles and sturgeon.

The Boreal Discovery Centre will provide opportunities for visitors to explore how people traditionally adapted to the boreal region, encounter animal species from the boreal forest, and will feature an expanded community garden, herb gardens, a greenhouse, and landscaping featuring boreal plants.

The Thompson Zoological Society has developed a state of the art Sturgeon interpretive habitat unique to this area as Phase one of the three-year master plan.
