Road trip anyone? RVing hotspots across Manitoba

Posted August 03, 2017 | Author Reba Lewis

RVing has been gaining steady traction among Manitobans. For those who love the outdoors and the idea of sleeping under the stars, but find that love reaching only as far as the eyes can hone in on a cozy bed, the RVing lifestyle might be perfect for you. Whether you consider yourself a glamper or a camper, the RVing way of life comes with more than a few advantages that speak to the best of both worlds.

For one, you’ll have no lawns to mow – at least for the time you’re away. You’ll find yourself cleaning a lot less and enjoying the outdoors a lot more. Your new middle name can be Freedom! (exclamation mark included, if you so choose) and your schedule? Well, you don’t really need one. In fact, you can delete that word altogether from your vocabulary.

What’s more, this newfound nomadic lifestyle comes with a pretty sweet roof over your head with absolutely no loads to tote yet still having everything you need within reach. RVing creates the perfect opportunity to make new friends along the way and encounter stunning new landscapes with the dawning of every new day.

If we’ve managed to bring you around even a little to the nifty idea of RVing around Manitoba, then one of these six RVing hotspots might help seal the deal on what could be your next adventure.

Aspen Grove Campground

Oak Lake

Located on the Trans-Canada Highway between Oak Lake and Virden, Aspen Grove has a cool, young vibe to it. It welcomes families and couples and offers weekly, monthly and nightly rate options. RVs can be hooked up with 30- and 50-amp electrical service, and there are enough activities to keep families and kids entertained, including mini golf, beach volleyball, swimming and even the occasional pot luck where you get to meet other RV-ers like yourself. There’s a cook shack for barbecues and a convenience store where you can pick up any supplies you may have left at home. And if you’re one of those who simply can’t go a day without Internet access, never fear, Aspen Grove also offers Wi-Fi access.

Spruce Sands RV Resort

Arnes

This park knows a thing or two about the RV lifestyle and has been a summertime family favourite for 50 years. Imagine waking up to stunning views of Lake Winnipeg in front of you with lush greenery behind you. Well, that’s exactly what you’ll get should you decide to visit Spruce Sands RV Resort. Rent a bike or kayak, try your hand at the six-hole putting greens, or just enjoy the warmth of the fire pit. This park also has all the conveniences you’re used to at home, like modern washrooms, showers and a laundromat, and is within walking distance of a café and bake shop.

Arrowhead RV Park

Ile des Chênes

If your quest is rest, relaxation and a recharge for part of the day with the remainder spent living it up, Arrowhead RV Park is just a 10-minute ride southeast of Winnipeg: far away enough from the city without being too far. This park has large RV pull-through sites and offers full electrical hook up. And if you hate parting with your pets, then bring them along as this RV park is pet friendly.

Miller’s Camping Resort

Portage la Prairie

When you get to the broad gates of Miller’s Camping Resort, you’ll feel welcomed and right at home. Nestled among trees, you’ll discover a world of fun awaiting you. Kids won’t be bored at this park! For one, there’s ice cream at the convenience store, and if that doesn’t keep you or your kids entertained, well you can always try the game room, swimming pool, rent a bike, play a game of baseball, basketball or beach volleyball. There is also Wi-Fi access and fire wood available on site. All you have to do is take your pick of daily, weekly or seasonal camping.

Rubber Ducky Resort and Campground

Warren

With a name like Rubber Ducky, you know this park means serious business when it comes to keeping your kids entertained. But not to worry, this park hasn’t forgotten about the adults. From its two pools and two hot tubs, to the stocked rainbow trout pond, duck pond, pool hall, mini golf course and outdoor movie theatre, there’s enough fun to go around. Oh, did we mention the Ducky Express Train? This fun ride is available on weekends at the campground.

CherryHill Living

Steinbach

For the die-hard glamper, the modern facilities at CherryHill Living will make a believer of you yet. This park was created for those looking for a more upscale experience, keeping the privacy of its guests in mind with natural forest buffers in between each lot. CherryHill sits on 100 acres of parkland forest with a 10-acre spring-fed lake where you can paddle and kayak to your heart’s content. If you’re an avid angler, the stocked lake also offers catch-and-release trout fishing. If fishing isn’t your sport of choice, there other leisure activities like biking, walking, hiking and golf.
