There’s snow place like home, especially when you’re spending the winter months in Winnipeg. And our cool city just got cooler with the addition of the Ice Castles at The Forks! For us, it was love at frost sight (okay, we promise, no more puns). If you want to experience a true winter wonderland fit for Elsa herself, be sure to visit this spectacular show at least once this winter…
What: A magical show of light and ice
…And some fire too! The Ice Castles will be a visual delight for the young and old alike. Wander through towering structures of icicles and frost and be captivated as the lights shimmer and change with the music that fills the space. This ethereal environment includes a magic fountain that spouts water with changing hues, polar bears that hide within the icy walls and plenty of nooks and crannies for photo-ops. Kids will love to fly down the icy tunnel slides on crazy carpets, and we’re guessing adults will too (just watch your head, that ceiling is low)!
Fire performances (with fire breathing, spinning, hula and more) will take place every Friday and Saturday between 7 to 10 pm. And we weren’t kidding when we said the castle was fit for Queen Elsa. Between 1-4 pm on Saturday and Sunday, be greeted by the enchanted Frozen sisters and be sure to snap a photo with this royal pair.
Since the terrain is made of crushed ice, be sure to wear some sturdy boots and to swap your stroller for a sled.
