Where to Go Berry Picking in Manitoba

Posted: July 02, 2026 | Author: Michelle Madunatu | Estimated Read Time: 3 minutes

Few summer traditions in Manitoba are as satisfying as coming home with berry-stained fingers and a basket full of fresh fruit. From late June through July, U-pick farms across the province welcome visitors to harvest strawberries, raspberries and saskatoons at their peak. Some farms turn berry picking into a full family outing with playgrounds and farm attractions, while others offer a quieter escape surrounded by prairie landscapes. Wherever you go, checking the farm's daily picking updates is part of the experience; because the sweetest berries never stay in the field for long.

U-Pick Berry Farms in Manitoba

Boonstra Farms

If you're planning a family day trip, Boonstra Farms near Stonewall offers more than just berry picking. Start by filling your basket with ripe strawberries, then spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the farm. Children can climb the bale pyramid, visit the petting zoo, ride the train or burn off energy at the playground, while adults can relax with ice cream or lunch from Boony's Chip Truck.

Strawberry season usually begins in late June, with raspberries ripening later in July. Since berry availability changes quickly, it's always worth checking the farm's website before you head out.

Cormier’s Berry Patch

Just south of Winnipeg near La Salle, Cormier's Berry Patch has welcomed visitors for more than 25 years. With 10 acres of strawberries, there's plenty of room to take your time as you wander the rows and fill your basket with fresh-picked berries.

The farm typically opens in late June, with the season lasting about three weeks depending on weather and crop conditions. Picking is first come, first served, with no appointments required and visitors should bring cash since the farm is cash only. After a rainy day, rubber boots or sturdy shoes are a good idea, as the fields can be wet.

NW27 Farms

Tucked between Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes and Rathwell along the Boyne River, NW27 Farms is a small strawberry farm where the focus is simply on fresh, locally grown berries. Visitors can pick their own strawberries or order pre-picked berries in advance if they're short on time.

Because berry availability changes throughout the season, the farm recommends checking its Facebook or Instagram pages or calling ahead for the latest picking conditions and hours before your visit.

Willow & Plum Orchard

Just outside Oakbank, Willow & Plum Orchard offers a different take on Manitoba fruit farming. The family-run orchard grows a variety of fruits, berries and flowers using regenerative farming practices that focus on caring for the land as much as the harvest.

Depending on the season, visitors can enjoy fresh berries while taking in the peaceful countryside setting. It's a great stop for anyone looking to connect with local agriculture and discover a farm that's continually growing and evolving.
