Father’s Day can look a little different for everyone. It might mean celebrating a parent, a caregiver, a guardian, a relative, a friend, your chosen family or honouring the memory of someone special.

At its heart, it’s about spending time together with the people you love.

However you choose to celebrate Father’s Day, Manitoba offers plenty of experiences to help you make the most of the day. From sports events to outdoor activities to quiet moments with quality time, these ideas are designed to help you celebrate in a way that feels right for you, whether you’re the one being celebrated or planning the experience for someone you love.

How to Plan for Father’s Day in Manitoba

  • Summer is filled with things to do in Manitoba, and it’s a great season to plan an experience. It’s a cliché to say there’s something for everyone, but there really is: consider an open-air museum, Shakespeare in the Ruins, a craft cocktail class, a basketball game, a walking tour or a train ride. Think outside the box with some of the ideas below.
  • If you’re interested in a Father’s Day event, book as early as possible! Special events, including Father’s Day brunch, fill up quickly.
  • There are many free and low-cost experiences around the province on Father’s Day, including hiking, free events at the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival, a free vintage transit show, a park picnic and many more.

For the Sporty One

1. It’s a Father’s Day tradition for many! The Manitoba Marathon is back for its 47th year. Events include the full marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 10km and 5km Super Run, or you can volunteer. Register today!

2. Have a basketball fan you’d like to celebrate? Make your way to the Canada Life Centre to watch the Winnipeg Sea Bears play on June 20, 2026.

3. It’s a classic Father’s Day activity, but it’s classic for a reason: everyone loves a round of golf in the sunshine! Hit up some of Manitoba’s best links for some quality time together. Check out Wheat City Golf Course, Selkirk Golf and Country Club, Lake of the Sandhills Golf Course and many more.

4. The Winnipeg Goldeyes are back for another exciting baseball season! Snag tickets to the Father’s Day game on June 21, 2026.

5. For a heart-pumping Father’s Day, visit one of Winnipeg’s Activate locations. Work together with your friends or family to jump, climb, problem-solve and laugh your way through this interactive gaming facility. A guaranteed good time!

6. The province has numerous options when it comes to recreation rooms, bowling alleys and arcades. Spend some time together bowling, playing arcade games and even axe throwing for an action-packed (and very memorable) Father’s Day. Try The Rec Room in Winnipeg, VB’s Entertainment in Winkler, The Game Room in Thompson or T-Birds in Brandon.

For the Arts and Culture Enthusiast

7. The 2026 TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival runs from June 16 to 21. Enjoy a range of ticketed and free events through Winnipeg’s Exchange District, perfect for the jazzhead in your life.

8. Father’s Day 2026 lands on June 21, which is also National Indigenous Peoples Day. Eat at one of the province’s Indigenous-owned restaurants and then head to Misiwe Kîsikohk | Under One Sky, a celebration of Indigenous Excellence through music and visual artistry.

9. Manitoba’s seasonal museums are open! Plan a Father’s Day weekend that’s both entertaining and educational with a visit to one of the province’s excellent outdoor museums, including the Pembina Threshermen’s Museum in Morden-Winkler, the Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach, Selo Ukraina in Dauphin or the Swan Valley Historical Museum in Swan River.

10. Visit Steinbach from June 19 to 21, 2026, for the Summer in the City Festival. A fantastic way to celebrate Father’s Day with live entertainment, midway rides, a car show, visual art, a skateboarding competition, mini-golf and much more.

11. For the one who loves a bit of the Bard, enjoy a show at Shakespeare in the Ruins. Choose from As You Like It or An Iliad as you enjoy the arts in the fresh air.

12. Perfect for the budding artist in your life, spend the day creating a bit of art at one of the province’s many studios. Cartizan Studio in Winnipeg offers options for Father’s Day, including a Doodlebot workshop on June 20, 2026. Also try Fun Time Pottery in Brandon or Clay Owl Studio in Winkler.

13. Visit your local bookshop or music store together to peruse, share favourites and maybe pick out a new addition to your collection. Check out Into the Music or Whodunit? Bookshop in Winnipeg, George Strange’s BookMart & Prairie Showcase or Faders Music in Brandon or Poor Michael’s Emporium in Riding Mountain National Park.

14. Thompson’s Nickel Days are back for another year, this time over Father’s Day weekend from June 18 to 21, 2026. Enjoy events and activities such as arm-wrestling contests, a pancake breakfast, softball, live music, laser tag, jigging and more.

For the Outdoorsy One

15. Whether it’s with family, friends, just the two of you or a solo adventure, there’s nothing like time on the water. This Father’s Day, head to your favourite fishing spot to reflect, relax and connect with nature. Some of the best fishing spots in June include the Red River near Selkirk for channel catfish, Lake Winnipeg for greenback walleye, Laurie Lake in Duck Mountain Provincial Park for splake and Clearwater Lake for lake trout.

16. How cute are baby bison? See them in person on a Father’s Day Baby Bison Walk on June 21, 2026, at FortWhyte Alive. While there, spend some time exploring the urban green space, including its hiking and biking trails. Binoculars, fishing gear and bikes are available to rent.

17. It’s back for another year! The always-popular Father’s Day Waterbug Derby will take place on June 21, 2026, at Oak Hammock Marsh. Dip your net in the murky waters and try to capture as many different species of aquatic invertebrates as you can. Who knows, you might win a prize!

18. For those who love an active Father’s Day, hit the hiking trails! June is one of Manitoba’s best months for hiking, so take advantage of family-friendly trails such as the Brokenhead Wetland Interpretive Trail, moderate hikes such as the Willow and Deadwood Loop in Morden or challenging adventures such as the Hunt Lake Trail in Whiteshell Provincial Park.

19. Sometimes the most thoughtful gifts are the simplest ones. Pack a picnic with everyone’s favourite foods and spend some time in your local park. Suggestions include Winnipeg’s Kildonan Park, Portage la Prairie’s Island Park or Winkler’s Bethel Heritage Park.

20. Warm weather is here, which means a beach day is a wonderful option for Father’s Day. Check out the Beaches of Highway 59 or some of Manitoba’s small town beaches for a peaceful and memorable day out.

For the Foodie
