Join a Dragonfly Safari where you can catch and identify many different species of dragonflies and damselflies or try catching dragonfly nymphs from the waters of the marsh. You can also make an edible dragonfly craft to take home. This event will be a lot of fun for the whole family!

Disney’s The Little Mermaid

Rainbow Stage closes its stellar 60th Anniversary season with the Canadian premiere of Disney’s The Little Mermaid! MEME is a festival that presents refined cutting edge electronic music performed using the latest in new creative technologies. Some of the musical styles you can expect to hear at MEME include a broad spectrum of house, techno, deep dub, psychedelic, world, nu-jazz, ambient and experimental sounds.

Harvest Sun Music Festival

Aug 15 to 17 | Kelwood

Fresh food and marvelous music are in abundance at the Harvest Sun Music Festival! This is a small festival with a big heart, and big dreams of supporting local agriculture and the arts by celebrating both of these through music. This year's event has a large line up of performers, including Alfa, Iskwe, Fast Romantics, JD Edwards and Al Simmons to name a few. There's also a farmers' market with some of Manitoba’s best farmers and gardeners offering up organic produce, naturally raised prairie beef, preserves and much more. Yum!

Shirley Richardson Butterfly Garden

Enter the magical world of butterflies at the Shirley Richardson Butterfly Garden. This seasonal exhibit is full of native butterfly species (including monarchs and painted ladies) and sub-tropical species fluttering around a peaceful, pastoral garden full of colourful flowers, benches and water features.

And, of course, don't forget to pop by and say hello to the polar bears at the new Journey to Churchill exhibit.

Canadian Nationals: Arabian & Half Arabian Championship Horse Show

Aug 11 to 16 | Keystone Centre, Brandon

If you're a horse lover, the Arabian & Half-Arabian Championship is a must-see! This international competition has over 700 of the world’s most recognizable horse breeds in Brandon to compete in 187 different classes in youth, western, dressage, hunter and English disciplines. One of the most exciting classes is the mounted native costume classes. Costumes are representative of those used by ancient Bedouins when they charged across the desert sands to engage their enemy in battle.

Winnipeg Beach Centennial Celebration

You're invited to head out to Winnipeg Beach to celebrate the town's 100th birthday! Soak up the sun, take a dip in the lake and enjoy a weekend of fun events and activities including a tennis tournament, boat parade, dog show, beer gardens, live stage entertainment, fireworks and much more!

Lower Fort Garry

Step back in time to the 19th century fur trade at the oldest stone fur trading post still intact in North America at Lower Fort Garry. Costumed interpreters will take you back to the mid-1800s as they re-enact events of the early days of this Hudson's Bay Company post.

Walking with Our Sisters Exhibit

Aug 11 to 18 | Métis Hall, The Pas

The Walking with Our Sisters Exhibit is a commemorative art installation for the missing and murdered Indigenous women of Canada and the USA. This large collaborative art piece is a floor installation made up of beaded vamps arranged in a winding path formation on fabric and includes cedar boughs. Viewers remove their shoes to walk on a path of cloth alongside the vamps.
