  • Admission: $40 general admission; $25 students
  • Time: 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM

On June 6 & 7, Flipside Opera & Art Song Collective will present Word Painting: The Complete Songs of Henri Duparc at Salle Pauline Boutal, Centre Culturel Franco-Manitobain. These two evenings of Duparc’s 17 published art songs will be performed by Winnipeg-born sopranos Elena Howard-Scott and Lara Ciekiewicz with collaborative pianist Lisa Rumpel. The songs are lush, cinematic examples of 19th-century French art song. In tandem with the captivating musical performances of these accomplished singing actors, multidisciplinary artist Nereo Zorro will do a live painting performance, creating a visual representation of the sonic emotional journey in real time.

Guided by the vision of director Jacqueline Loewen, the concerts will be immersive, rooting the audience in the present with sound, light, and colour. The spontaneous creativity of four professional artists will culminate in the presentation of the finished piece of original art, which will be available by silent auction following the performance.

Tickets available now at www.flipsideopera.com/word-painting.

Presented with the generous support of the Manitoba Arts Council.
