Bittersweet’s annual recreational skiing event is held every year on the Sunday of the Louis Riel long weekend. It is an annual fundraiser for our club to raise money for grooming and equipment costs. This year we are having a Poker Rally. Come to the Nordic Centre at 12pm to buy your poker hands (1 hand for $5.00, or 3 hands for $10.00). You will receive your first card here, then cross country ski out to 3 checkpoints where you will receive your next 3 cards, finishing up at the Nordic Centre for your 5th card. Cash prizes will go out to the best 3 hands. There will be free chili and refreshments all afternoon, as well as raffle prize tickets available for an assortment of home and ski based items. Winning poker hands will be announced at 3:30 pm, followed by draws for raffle prize winners.

The Bittersweet trails are operated and maintained by the Bittersweet Cross Country Ski Club. Situated in the Assiniboine River valley, they are a short 1½ hour drive from Winnipeg, 50 km SW of Portage la Prairie on highway 242 between highways 1 & 2, just north of the Assiniboine River bridge at the top of the hill. There are two trailheads – the main trailhead at the Nordic Centre.
