Musee St Joseph Museum

The Musée St. Joseph Museum was established to preserve the history and culture of the Rural Municipality of Montcalm for the enjoyment of local residents and visitors to the area. The museum features a historical village, agricultural buildings, a tourism center and a campground.

Visitors have a unique opportunity to see, and experience first-hand, how early pioneer farmers lived and worked in the region more than 100 years ago. Exploring the museum's buildings provides hours of entertainment and includes two heritage homes, a school, a church, a general store, some typical farm buildings, exhibits of tractors and other agricultural machinery, a leather workshop, a wood-working shop, a significant collection of stationary engines and a display representing the history of the Manitoba sugar beet industry.

The Centre Parent Tourism Centre, an impressive timber-frame structure decorated with amazing murals by Manitoba artist, Hubert Théroux, is open year-round and offers visitors an introduction to the museum's collections. The museum's 45,000 artifacts are normally housed in the historical village and agricultural buildings, which are only open to the public during the summer months.
The centre has a gallery for artifacts and travelling exhibits, a gift shop, and a permanent exhibition dedicated to the unique Laurent Fillion collection of cameras.

Cultural events are held in the centre throughout the year.
