Manitobans know a thing or two about patio season.

While it's easy to assume that all the best spots are found in Winnipeg, there are plenty of outstanding options beyond the city limits, too.

There are a number of spots around the province where you can sit back, bask in the warmth of summer and enjoy a refreshing drink and a delicious meal. Here are a few of the best patios around the province for you to discover this summer season.

1929 Dining and Lounge, Riding Mountain National Park

For the better part of the last century, 1929 Dining and Lounge has been a meeting place for locals and visitors alike. In the summer months, this outdoor space is teeming with fun-loving folks enjoying the warm weather. There are both open-air and screened patios, both with gorgeous views of Clear Lake, so you have a couple of options for sitting outside. We recommend the Banana Bailey Colada or the Beergarita for a true taste of summer!

Paint Lake Lodge, Paint Lake Provincial Park

After a busy day of waterfall chasing at Pisew Falls or reeling up monster walleyes on the lake, head over to Paint Lake Lodge and grab a seat on their patio overlooking the marina. If you time it right, you’ll have the best seat in the house for one of Manitoba’s picture-perfect sunsets as you enjoy selections from their diverse food and drink menu.

The Lighthouse Restaurant and Lounge, Gull Harbour

Right along the shore of Lake Winnipeg, you'll find the ideal place to unwind from a day of activities on Hecla Island. Recently renovated, the Lighthouse Restaurant boasts two lovely patio areas – a screened-in option and an open outdoor space, both offering waterfront views that will make you want to return again and again!

The Dock on Princess, Brandon

The Dock on Princess is often considered one of Brandon’s best patios, and for good reason; it’s spacious, comfortable and the menu is packed with classic pub cravings. With a focus on locally grown food - look for the word “locavore” on the menu - you can choose from items such as a Saskatoon Berry Bison Burger, poutine, tacos and so much more. The drinks are great, too, with a wide variety of cocktails and Manitoba beers on tap

Rendezvous Brewery and Taproom, Morden

Rendezvous Eatery and Taproom, found in the heart of Morden, has a small sidewalk patio that’s ideal for mellow summer evenings. Sip on creative cocktails, fine wine or easy-drinking brews, and check out their tasty food menu, too. The patio fills up fast in summer, so get there early to guarantee a spot.

Nite Hawk Cafe, West Hawk Lake

Established in 1970, Nite Hawk Cafe is all about delicious, homemade food… but there’s also a stellar patio in the summer. With mouthwatering burgers, hot dogs, wings, poutine and weekly steak nights, this family-run restaurant is a fantastic stop when in Whiteshell Provincial Park. Bonus: choose from sitting outdoors or in the covered, screened patio section, the latter of which is open rain or shine.

Interlake Brewing Co., Gimli

One of Manitoba’s top breweries is also home to an excellent patio in the warmer months. Gimli’s Interlake Brewing Co. is a family-friendly restaurant that has it all: a welcoming atmosphere, a terrific food menu (the pickerel fish tacos are outstanding), 12 craft beers on tap, and live music and events. Lounge on the rooftop patio in summer for beautiful views of Lake Winnipeg.

Buffalo Point Resort, Lake of the Woods

Travel southeast as far as you can in Manitoba, and you’ll find Buffalo Point Resort. While many visit for the Lake of the Sandhills Golf Course, there’s also a lovely patio to take advantage of in the summer months. Spend some time on the white sandy beaches, playing golf or walleye fishing and then head to the Lakeview Patio for classic meals and refreshing drinks in the sunshine. The perfect way to end a day exploring the province!
