5 reasons Clearwater Lake Provincial Park is one of Manitoba's best kept secrets

If you've never heard of or visited Clearwater Lake Provincial Park, it's about time you did. Nestled in Manitoba's north about a 6.5-hour drive northwest of Winnipeg, it can be easy to overlook this diamond in the wild. Once you visit, you'll have no problem understanding why it was voted as the best provincial park in the province.

As you start planning your next summer vacation (because it's really never too early), this unbelievable place absolutely needs to be on your list and here are 5 reasons why.

1. It's ridiculously gorgeous

With its crystal-clear waters and tropical blue hue, it's hard to resist the beauty that is Clearwater Lake.

2. It's the perfect place to play

Whether it's paddling out a canoe, taking a hike through the caves, or just splashing around, this is the height of Manitoba summer at its finest.

3. There be fish here

Whether you're a seasoned angler or it's the first time casting a line, this its-so-big-it-feels-like-an-ocean is teeming with fish like lake trout and pike. Even the most newbie of anglers will have hard time walking away without a catch.

4. The caves beckon

While we mentioned it once, it's worthy of a mention on its own. The Caves--a short hike on the shores of Clearwater Lake–is a beautiful rocky oasis teeming with hues of green. The reward is a dip of your toes in the cool clear waters below.

5. A stone's throw

One of the best features of Clearwater Lake Provincial Park is its proximity to The Pas. While it will feel like you are away from it all in the park, a short 15-minute drive means you've got easy access to groceries, restaurants and, hey, even a movie if it's a rainy night. It's really the best of all worlds.
