What are the best biking routes in Manitoba?

For mountain biking, try Northgate Trails in Dauphin, a 26 km of stacked-loop single-track along the north escarpment of Riding Mountain National Park. Squirrel Hills Trail Park in Minnedosa and HyLife Back Forty Multi-Use Trail Park in Neepawa are your other options for mountain-bike routes.

East Escarpment Trails in Riding Mountain National Park is a great choice for stunning views of ravines and elevated lookouts. Pinawa to Seven Sisters is a 30 km scenic loop that follows the Winnipeg River through forest and past marshes and meadows.

Whiteshell Provincial Park is your go-to for Canadian Shield scenery. Ride shoreside trails around Falcon Lake or tackle more challenging routes such as the 14 km Blue Highway Trail near Caddy Lake and Five of Diamonds Trail at Falcon Trails Resort. Go on a 16 km mountain-biking adventure on the Onishkatoon Gwaykaadiziwin trail. Unveiled in June 2026, the trail runs along the eastern end of Falcon Lake and offers views of the exposed granite of the Canadian Shield, taking you on an exploration of vast wetlands surrounded by the boreal forest.

Manitoba’s section of the Great Northern Bikepacking Route is another spectacular route, suitable for experienced bikepackers. This approximately 885 km route runs through Winnipeg, Riding Mountain, Northgate Trails and Sandilands Provincial Forest. Another long-haul trail is the 200-kilometre Crow Wing Trail.

What are safety tips for biking?

To stay safe on your bike, wear protective gear like a helmet and make sure to include reflective elements on your bike or clothing to be visible on the road. Use bike lights for the front and back of your bike if you intend to cycle at night. As you head out for a biking trip, check that your bike is fully equipped for the trip. Remember to bring navigation devices like maps and a compass, enough water and snacks, an emergency first aid kit, spare bike tubes, patch kits and a small bike pump.
