Posted April 20, 2018 | Author Breanne Sewards

We love springtime in Manitoba. And you know what? We like to think that spring loves us too. Sunny skies and chirping birds beckon us gently out of our cozy winter abodes as we open our windows to the crisp, pleasant spring air and begin to envision all that the warmer months bring to the province. It's an exciting time. If you are ready to enter the season of new beginnings, start with trying each of these 10 restaurants, cafes and bakeries that will make springtime in Manitoba that much more delicious!

Hildegard's Bakery

686 Portage Avenue Winnipeg

This STUNNING bakery is more than just a pretty interior (and we do mean pretty). The bakery is owned by the same family of Integrity Food's, a unique wood-fired pizzeria and bakery located in the town of Riverton, Manitoba. Continuing the same values as Integrity Food's, Hildegard's Bakery promises handmade goods (made healthy when possible and with local ingredients) that can be savoured in a friendly atmosphere. And did we mention that they will start rolling out their AMAZING wood-fired pizzas later in April? We're so excited!

Ralph's German Restaurant and Cafe

551 Muirham Avenue, Winkler

Want to get a taste of German cuisine? Head to Winkler! Ralph's German Restaurant and Cafe serves up home cooked German food, including bienenstich (sweet yeast dough with a baked-on topping of caramelized almonds), jagerschnitzel (crispy breaded pork chops), bratwurst (German sausage) and more.

Velvet Antler Cafe

Turtle Mountain Resort, 400 Stevens Crescent, Lake Metigoshe

Nestled into a cozy resort near Turtle Mountain Provincial Park is a total gem of a restaurant that draws in visitors from all over the province. Word is spreading quickly about Velvet Antler Cafe's delicious breakfast and burgers, so much so that more and more people are making the drive for the food alone. Signature dishes include the mountain man burger (with a beef patty AND crispy veal cutlet) as well as the belgian waffle (with sweet or savoury topping options).

The atmosphere of the event is enhanced with all guests adhering to an all-white-clothing dress code.l Food is provided by local chefs Mandel Hitzer (of deer + almond) and Ben Kramer.

Table for 600

Don't leave without ordering the hummus!

Sawmill Tea & Coffee Cafe

298 S Railway Street, Boissevain

Asides from serving up delicious food, dessert and drink, Sawmill Tea & Coffee Co. is a cafe with a mission. This not-for-profit community cafe has created an inviting setting to relax in (with NO purchase necessary) and aims to employ local youth and community members living with disabilities. The cafe is also home to a cute gift shop where you can buy local arts and crafts.

Little Goat Food & Drink

It takes guts to open a restaurant. Little Goat Food & Drink is the result of one family's willingness to take the leap to achieve a big dream - and if you ask us, they've succeeded! Focusing on French comfort food, Little Goat Food & Drink is constantly evolving and getting creative with dishes. And you won't want to miss their delectable brunch (because who doesn't love brunch?).

Cafe Lemon Tree

1631 St Mary's Road, Winnipeg

It's surprising that Cafe Lemon Tree is still relatively unknown - it's THAT delicious! The menu offers authentic Korean dishes with a Canadian twist for brunch, lunch and dinner. The Korean-style BBQ skillet will satiate any meat lover, and you'll want to leave room for dessert!

Just BeeCuzz Cafe

210 Broadway Street, Crystal City

Located in Crystal City, Manitoba, this small-town tea room will draw you in with its cute and quaint interior, but you'll stay for the food and drink!
