Riding Mountain National Park
The south entrance of Riding Mountain National Park is at the townsite of Wasagaming, a cottage-country hub during the summer months featuring local shops and restaurants, a tennis club, a mini golf course and even a movie theatre. Grab a cinnamon bun ice cream sandwich from the Lakehouse, a boutique hotel which hosts entertainments and events year-round.
Take a swim in the crystal waters off of the Clear Lake main beach, where washrooms, change rooms and outdoor showers make this a great spot for a beach day. Keep your eyes open for sail boats that are usually passing by or get out on the water yourself. If you're not a sailor, the Martese Sunset Cruise is a great way to wind down your day Clear Lake-style.
If you love hiking and biking, Riding Mountain National Park offers hundreds of kilometres of trails of varying lengths and levels of difficulty. Make your way up the Manitoba Escarpment on paths that have been used for thousands of years and enjoy the view from the top.
Many camping opportunities make the park the ideal place for everyone from backcountry experts to casual campers. You can also spend the night in a variety of unique outdoor accommodations like yurts, oTENTiks and micro-cubes. Dark skies year-round make your campsite an ideal place for stargazing. Don't be surprised if you see the northern lights make an appearance, even in the summer months.
