New Manitoba Inspiration Guide Launches

Posted January 23, 2024

Travel Manitoba has launched its latest Inspiration Guide, an annual publication filled with trip ideas, partner features and more.

Travel Manitoba’s Inspiration Guide is an essential tool for residents and visitors to answer the call of Canada’s Heart and plan their next trip to Manitoba. The 2024 guide features iconic and bucket-list experiences, new attractions and valuable offers from tourism partners so that readers can find whatever their heart needs in one handy guide.

The guide also includes “new-to tips”, local favourites and call-outs that highlight accessible tourism opportunities throughout the province. Tourism operators, accommodations and businesses were invited to participate in the annual guide through paid partnership opportunities.

As a partner of Travel Manitoba, the Interlake Tourism Association invested in the 2024 Inspiration Guide to showcase the region’s rich experiences, said Melissa Van Soelen, Manager for Interlake Tourism Association.

“Our partnership is more than strategic; it's a vital thread woven into the fabric of our marketing efforts, amplifying the allure of the Interlake and ensuring that every page turned becomes an unforgettable journey for those seeking adventure, culture, and the extraordinary.”

Points of interest like the Gimli Seawall Gallery are included in road trip itineraries featured in this year's Inspiration Guide.

Lianna Brook, Marketing Manager for Pineridge Hollow, said they see the Inspiration Guide as a first point of contact with potential guests and visitors to Winnipeg and Manitoba and it serves as a reminder to locals of all the incredible things that can be enjoyed in their home province.

“At Pineridge Hollow, celebrating everything we have right at our fingertips has always been a core value. From the landscape and the food that is grown and raised here and of course, the people,” said Brook. “Flipping through the Inspiration Guide you can feel the vibrancy and energy of our province that can sometimes be overlooked.”

Destinations like Pineridge Hollow's The Village are featured in the Inspiration Guide for travellers seeking unique shopping and dining experiences.

“The team at Travel Manitoba does an amazing job encompassing all that our province has to offer, including unique destinations, outdoor experiences, Indigenous and Francophone experiences, festivals and events and places to stay,” said Joel Waterman, General Manager of Inn at the Forks. “The guide is a professional, attractive and informative piece of media that helps to shape the adventures of anyone and everyone looking to explore the heart of the country. We are continuously proud to be involved with it and always eager to review it every year.”

Inn at the Forks has a long-standing association with Travel Manitoba’s Inspiration Guide, he noted. “As Winnipeg’s only boutique lifestyle hotel, it is vital we are featured in this important publication every year,” he said.

Restaurants, spas and hotels like Inn at the Forks are featured in the Inspiration Guide for travellers seeking urban experiences.

On the cover is a unique photo taken by Canadian travel photographer Paul Zizka during a recent media trip to Churchill on a northern lights excursion. His photo shows a lone polar bear on the arctic tundra with the aurora borealis dancing overhead—an occurrence rarely captured in a single image.

Vice-President of Marketing, Cody Chomiak, says Travel Manitoba chose the photo because it represents a once-in-a-life-time moment.

“Photographers have been chasing a photo like this for years, decades even,” says Chomiak. “As soon as we saw it, we knew it was special.”

Travel Manitoba worked with Paul Zizka to purchase the photo so that it could be shared with audiences through various marketing materials like the Inspiration Guide.

QR codes and URLs in the print guide lead out to Travel Manitoba’s website and partner websites for trip planning purposes. Content is refreshed regularly on travelmanitoba.com providing travellers with up-to-date information for planning their trip.

Throughout the guide readers can find photos that represent the province, many taken by content creators and social media influencers Travel Manitoba works with through other marketing programs.

This year’s edition will be delivered to nearly 180,000 households across Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Northwest Ontario as well as through newspaper inserts in the Fargo Forum and Grand Forks Herald. Travel Manitoba will also leverage its Visitor Services Network to distribute additional guides with strategic partners like regional tourism organizations, Manitoba Liquor Marts and Red River Co-op.

The 2024 Inspiration Guide can be read online, and personal and bulk copies are available to order through our Visitor Services team by contacting 1-204-927-7800 or contactus@travelmanitoba.com.

A French version of the guide will be available in February.
