GoodLocal

We are Obby Khan and Ali Esmail: Winnipeggers, small-business owners and creators of GoodLocal who saw our fellow makers and merchants struggling to connect with their local customers amid the 2020 global pandemic. We heard stories about product spoiling and sitting, unable to reach buyers, and we wanted to help. We started GoodLocal to make it easy for local buyers and sellers to reach each other, because we believe that a thriving community of growers, makers and merchants is the heartbeat of any great city. GoodLocal is located on original lands of Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. On behalf of our vendors and our team, we respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we are dedicated to working forward in reconciliation and collaboration with Indigenous communities. It is important to note that land acknowledgement is only a small part of cultivating strong relationships with Indigenous communities, and we are proud to feature Indigenous artists, makers, and vendors on the GoodLocal platform
