Through the Narrows: 7 of Manitoba's best roadside attractions

To see even more roadside attractions in Manitoba, take the route up highway 6 and through the Lake Manitoba Narrows to the Parkland region. There, you will encounter beautiful scenery AND a great collection of landmarks that your kids will love.

Lundar: Canada Goose

The first stop along highway 6 is in Lundar, Manitoba. Here, you'll find a beautiful beach and campground as well as Manitoba's largest goose. Situated along the north-south flyway, the goose rests upon a revolving mount that turns with the wind.

Ashern: Sharptail Grouse

Before turning through the Narrows, take a short detour north to the town of Ashern, "Land of the Sharptail Grouse". The statue represents the bounty of birds found in the area, and the many opportunities for grouse hunting.

Sainte Rose du Lac: Leggy the Love Bug

After crossing through the Narrows, turn onto Highway 5 right before the town of Sainte Rose du Lac to see an unusual sight: a lone, leggy love bug. We can't seem to find the origins of this roadside attraction, so please leave a comment below if you know its story!

Dauphin: Amisk the Beaver

Nothing says Canadiana quite like a 16-foot-tall beaver. Located on the Main Street of Dauphin, the statue is a throwback to Canada's centennial and celebrates the beaver in the region and in the town's crest. The beaver's name, Amisk, is the Cree word for beaver.

Gilbert Plains: Gilbert the Golfer

Golfers looking for a new course to play should consider a visit to Gilbert Plains; a small town in the Parkland with a great country club. Here, you will also find Gilbert the Golfer, the community's mascot, located just outside the museum.

Grandview: Train

Considered to be the gateway to Duck Mountain Provincial Park, Grandview is located in a scenic valley and is home to yet another roadside attraction to tick off your list. Head to the Watson Crossley Community Museum to snap a photo with the train and then head inside to discover the area's history.

Roblin: Jewel of the Parkland

The last stop on your epic roadside attraction adventure is in the town of Roblin - also known as the "Jewel of the Parkland". The giant gem on the western side of town (along Highway 5) represents this title in all its glory.
