Tour, Taste and Toast: Winnipeg's Craft Beer Scene

Ninety minutes north of the US border, Winnipeg is the perfect getaway for anyone looking for good times and a good pint. Choose from microbreweries, taprooms and brewpubs across the city where you can watch the brewing process, savour some pub fare and (if you're 18 or older) sample some of these local brews yourself.

Half Pints Brewery, one of Winnipeg’s pioneering independent microbreweries, will take you from grain to bottle on tours every Saturday. Fort Garry Brewing Company also arranges tours of their nine-step process by request. If you're looking for a full "brews cruise", Winnipeg Tasting Tours offers four hour, four stop tours through the breweries of Winnipeg's Exchange District—pizza included!

PEG Beer Co. is Winnipeg's newest brewpub, offering family-style fare that will appeal to all ages and taste buds. Pair your meal with an adult beverage by choosing from one of their six on-tap offerings. If you're looking for even more variety, you can take your pick of everything from sushi to empanadas (and stouts to radlers) with lunch and a beer flight at The Common, located in the heart of downtown at Winnipeg's tourist hot spot The Forks.

Enjoy Little Brown Jug's 1919 Belgian Pale Ale in their eco-friendly tasting room, steps away from the brewing process. Fill up a growler to go at Torque Brewing's growler bar, or find their beers in liquor stores or on tap across the city. Sample whatever Barn Hammer Brewing is mixing for the season alongside their six signature staples, or try their "experimental beer" if you're looking for something different. With so many brews to choose there's a reason to toast for every taste!
