After a three year hiatus, the Lakeside Quilters Quilt Show is back!
This year’s show promises to be a good one. There are two quilt categories: Quilts/quilted items and Donation Quilts. And, a new category has been added to the show: Fabric Art.
Fabric Art describes a wide variety of handmade arts and crafts. For the Lakeside Quilters show, Fabric Art is a piece in which thread is hand-stitched to fabrics. Other items can be hand-stitched to the fabric too, such as other fabrics, beads, ribbons, and buttons. So that means embroidery, appliqué, and other slow stitched pieces are considered as Fabric Art. A piece for the show could be a wall hanging, a fabric book, a bag, or any other hand-stitched creation.
All pieces entered into the show are judged by visitors to the show. The top three vote-getters in each category will be awarded a prize from our show sponsors.
The show is also an opportunity to buy fabric and sewing notions. Vendors from all over Manitoba will be on hand with a wide variety of goodies to purchase.
The show runs Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $8 a day (free for kids under 12). A silent auction, door prize and yummy food at the Fat 1/4 Café are available. Proceeds from the show go to Interlake projects and organizations.
