The Pond and Beyond depicts the imaginary world of the Ograt, their community and their way of life. According to Lute, “I was playing with the idea of creating a monster”. “Living and working underwater, these creatures might appear threatening with their frog like heads, hunched backs and lizard arms, but are very much family orientated and friendly. The purpose of the Ograt is to grow lily pads, develop friendships and strong family ties. They are taught to nurture and protect their precious crops” Lute says.

It is Lute’s hope that the viewer of her work finds her little creatures endearing, humorous, and interesting, while seeing the underlying message they share. Audrey Lute is an established artist from Gilbert Plains, Manitoba.

The opening reception and artist talk for this exhibit will take place on Thursday, September 7 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Portage & District Arts Centre.
