Spend summer with the Impressionists and experience 100 works spanning 100 years. The Impressionists and their followers sparked a revolution in European art in the late 19th century: they broke from convention, and changed the art world forever. Featured are some of the most beloved French artists of all time: Cassatt, Cézanne, Degas, Manet, Monet, Renoir, Matisse, and many others.
Two exhibitions – French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950 organized in collaboration with the Brooklyn Museum, New York, and The Impressionists on Paper, organized in partnership with the National Gallery of Canada – highlight some of the finest works of Impressionism and Modernism in North America. This spectacular showcase is inspiring for all ages and marks Manitoba’s first-ever major display of French Impressionist painting and drawings.
Featured artwork: Pierre-Auguste Renoir (French, 1841-1919) Les Vignes à Cagnes, 1908. Oil on canvas, 46.4 x 55.2cm. Brooklyn Museum, Gift of Colonel and Mrs. Edgar W. Garbisch.
