The Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel presented by Cambrian Excavators Ltd is a not for profit event raising money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and is held each year in February on the river near The Forks Historic Port in Winnipeg Manitoba.
Curling outdoors on the river is a unique experience. Participants from all over North America have come to our FUN-raiser event to experience what outdoor curling was like not so many years ago (before indoor curling clubs were first opened in Winnipeg in 1913, and 40 years later when mechanically frozen ice was added to several Winnipeg curling clubs to extend their curling season), and to experience the friendly atmosphere that Winnipeg is so well known for.
This bonspiel is the largest outdoor curling bonspiel in Canada. Over the past 18 years we have raised over $117,000.00 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. We continue to grow each year and we now curl on the Red River at The Forks on ten sheets of ice.
