Black Space Winnipeg in partnership with Winnipeg Film Group is proud to present the Afro Prairie Film Festival in celebration of Black History Month from Friday, February 23 - Sunday, February 25, 2018 taking place at the Cinematheque, 100 Arthur St. The Afro Prairie Film Festival is the first Black-centric film festival across the Prairies that is dedicated to the support and exposure of emerging and established Black filmmakers across Canada. For three days, participants can look forward to a weekend filled with education, workshops and a chance to explore Black narratives in filmmaking.
All programming is dedicated to supporting Black Filmmakers across the Prairies and throughout Canada. The festival is extremely proud and excited to present featured guests Amandine Gay (Ouvrir la Voix), Charles Officer (Unarmed Verses), and filmmaking legend Charles Burnett (To Sleep With Anger). Each featured guest’s film is followed by a Q+A with the director, so stick around after the film. Participants can buy individual Tickets or a Festival Pass (which gets you access to the entire festival), check our website for dates, film information and where to get your tickets/festival passes.
