As the weather turns and folks retreat to their fall routines, there’s nothing quite like getting yourself out of the house and into the stands to get loud and proud for your favourite team.

For sports fans, Manitoba has become a true hub that can give you a little bit of everything all year round. Whether you’re catching a glimpse of the pros, rooting for your alma mater, or taking in one of the special events coming through Winnipeg, there’s something sporty for everyone - and November is no exception!

Jets take on the defending champs

Winnipeg Jets vs Washington Capitals
November 14 @ 7:00pm - Bell MTS Place

It’s no secret the Winnipeg Jets have championship aspirations going into the 2018-2019 season. With their offensive firepower and well-oiled system, paired with maybe the loudest home crowd in the league, every Jets game is an experience. But when the defending champs are in town, you can expect the players to be battle-ready and the fans to be loud as Winnipeg looks to prove that they belong in the conversation with the best of the best. The Washington Capitals play a brand of high-intensity, high-scoring hockey, led by one of the greatest-of-all-time in their captain Alexander Ovechkin. With so much at stake, and so much talent on the ice at one time, this game’s definitely a must-see.

The legendary collective of basketball performers bring an energy and athleticism that is a blast for all ages. Expect to see some of the best handles, craziest dunks, and trickiest trick shots you’ve ever seen - but also be ready to laugh because not only are the Globetrotters impressive athletes, they’re equally impressive entertainers. Opening night at Duckworth

Volleyball: University of Winnipeg Wesmen vs UBC Okanagan Heat
November 2 & 3 - Duckworth Centre

Volleyball season is here, and luckily for us, Manitoba is a hotbed! Come on down to the Duckworth and check out the new crop of volleyball stars at the University of Winnipeg as they look to start their season off right with their home opener against UBC Okanagan. The Wesmen are launching their new Courtside Club, where you can experience a social-like atmosphere with food and drinks, all right up close to the action. With a live DJ on hand pre-game to pump up the fans, there should be a lively crowd on hand to cheer on the home team.

Spirit Cup with the Herd

Basketball: University of Manitoba Bisond vs University of Calgary Dinos
November 23 @ 6pm - Investors Group Athletic Centre

If you’re looking for the full university sports experience, this is the matchup to see. Taking place during the University of Manitoba's Spirit Cup week, the stands will be packed with fans getting loud for their Bisons as students in dorm compete against fellow residences for the Spirit Cup crown. Expect big crowds, costumes, signs, and a lot of noise at this one!

Fill the gym for MHSAA action

Volleyball: Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association AAAA Provincials
November 23 to December 3 - Host School TBD

Before we see our U SPORTS stars blossom at the university level, we get to see how they respond to their first big stage at the MHSAA AAAA Provincials. In what tend to be some of the most exciting volleyball games you’ll see all year, you can watch dynasties dominate and underdogs emerge in this two-week tournament to determine the best high school volleyball team in Manitoba. The tournament culminates in the Final Four in front of what is always “standing room only” at the already huge Investors Group Athletic Centre. These games have all of the dramatics, rivalries, storylines and skills, and it often ends up being one of the biggest events in amateur sports all year.
