Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet invites your family to a festive feast for the senses with enchanting costumes, timeless choreography and a brilliant score by Tchaikovsky. Nutcracker is a sheer delight, and features endearing Canadian scenes such as a snowy pond hockey game and a battle on Parliament Hill.

This year’s production returns with Hazel the polar bear and her twelve heart-warming cubs. What could be more fun for the family than to join young Clara’s Christmas fantasy, where toys come to life, the Sugar Plum Fairy spreads her magic, and mischievous Filbert the Bear steals the Christmas pudding! When midnight strikes, young Clara’s enchanted Christmas gift leads her into a wondrous world… with the valiant Nutcracker at her side, Clara defeats the Mouse King and his army of mice, and journeys to the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets. There, the Sugar Plum Fairy bids everyone to dance in their honour. Danced to Tchaikovsky’s timeless score, go on a wondrous adventure this holiday season.

This year’s acclaimed production of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Nutcracker will also welcome some new friends to the stage. Local celebrities will join the cast, performing walk-on roles with RWB’s Nutcracker cast. The Verba Ukrainian Dance Company will also bring the stage to life with the energetic high kicks and colourful costumes of the Ukrainian culture.
