This week in Manitoba focuses on the storyteller. From a woman dreaming of a career as a professional performer to a man on a personal odyssey of ethics and and truth, Manitoba’s rich theatre scene is stealing the show. Storytelling takes a wacky twist at Ai-Kon Winterfest, where characters from all walks of life will roam at the RBC Convention Centre. And those who dreamed of becoming an astronaut can craft their own story (with their family in tow) at the rocket making workshop at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada. Ready for lift off? 3…2…1…Here’s what’s hot this week!

Set out on a thrilling quest with Chimerica
February 24 to March 19
John Hirsch Mainstage
Chimerica tells the story behind one of the most iconic images of the 20th century. The day after the massacre of Tiananmen Square in 1989, rookie photographer and journalist Joe Schofield captured an image of a lone protester confronting a tank. It was a photograph that would go down in history. The lesser known story is 20 years later when Joe receives news that the Tank Man might still be alive, sending him on a personal quest of truth and ethics.
