Our wildlife challenge left us howling in glee. We knew you would post Manitoba’s biggies: polar bears, moose, wolves and belugas, but we never imagined you would show us so much of the small: squirrels, frogs, dragonflies and fishflies?! Yes, there were fishflies on the feed. It was wonderful to see the #exploremb community bringing attention to the tiniest species that, even though they are around us everyday, don’t often get the recognition they deserve.

The three finalists for the 🐺 Wildlife Wonders 🐺 challenge are…

Paul Epp  (@pauleppic)

We need to talk about Paul. Not only is he the friendliest person around, but he is pretty much besties with all the woodland creatures! Even his profile bio is for the birds: “pelicans glide, eagles soar, but none are steady like a duck.” In addition to taking a great photo, Paul also captures the coolest wildlife moments on his trail cam.

Heather Hinam (@secondnaturemb)

On most days you’ll find Heather frolicking in the forest… the boreal forest to be exact. As the owner of Second Nature, Adventures in Discovery, Heather spends much of her time in nature, which naturally gives her plenty of chances to capture unique wildlife moments. As an added bonus, her posts always contain the most fascinating facts.

Desirée L. Rolfe (@desireelrolfe)

Desirée is a master of the macro. Her dragonfly photo is an absolute stunner; it’s so crisp, colourful and close! Desirée calls herself “bird nerd” and “squirrel whisperer” in her bio, and we tend to agree, but she might want to add “dragonfly Queen” and “frog photog” to the list.

Congratulations, Paul, Heather and Desirée, you all win an #ExploreMB Instagram Moments book and are now finalists for our Instagram trip to Churchill.
