The holiday spirit is alive and well if our Instagram feed gives anything away. Shimmering bright lights envelope green and red adorned holiday décor and everyone’s trees look like they’re straight out of the latest Hallmark movie.
Have you been eyeing all the adorable holiday photos your friends are posting, wondering where they took them?
Well, we’ve been on the lookout for you, and we’ve rounded up a list of the best places to take Insta-worthy holiday photos in Manitoba.
1. Shelmerdine's Joy Sign
A perfectly illuminated red joy sign against a beautiful green #plantlife backdrop makes up Shelmerdine’s picture-perfect photo op. Grab your friends and loved ones and pose away because, for every photo posted in front of their sign, Shelmerdine donates $1 to the Bear Clan Patrol.
2. The Glittering Lights of The Forks
Literal pure magic at night, this archway is begging for you to snap photos in front of it. Once you’ve scored the perfect shot, lace up your skates and take on the on-land rinks and trails at The Forks.
Drive through a magical world filled with more lights than you could ever imagine. Pop out and pose in front of your favourite display. While you’re there, don’t miss out on the opportunity to take some of the displays to new levels through 3D glasses!
4. Outlet Collection Winnipeg's Joy and Hope Signs
Take a break from getting your Christmas shopping done to capture the moment in front of Outlet Collection’s massive joy and hope signs. Find them near the Under Armour store.
5. Tree Farms
Is there anything more perfect than capturing the moment you found the one? We’re talking about your holiday tree, of course. While you’re out finding THE tree, make sure to snap some photos – few things are more photogenic than tree farms under freshly fallen snow.
6. The Snowy Dream World of Art at Back Alley Arctic
In any season, Kal Barteski’s Back Alley Arctic is a dream world, but add in snow and cool temps, and you’ve got a recipe that can’t be outdone. Head down the back lane art gallery and take a photo with your favourite polar bear as snow swirls and whispy lights illuminate the artwork. Consider donating to the Polar Bear Fund - Barteski’s non-profit she created to help fund polar bear research, education and management.
7. The Humble Great Outdoors
Manitoba's forests and hiking trails offer ample photo-snapping opportunities. The snow-dusted forests and wide open trails make for a perfect backdrop, just add in your friends and a dog, and you’ve got a holiday photo straight out of your dreams.
8. Riding Mountain National Park's East Gate
Nothing like some straight-up nostalgia to set the scene for a beautiful holiday photo. The only gate of its kind left standing in Canada, this backdrop makes for a great vintage look. Plus, it’s a little out of the way, so you get to explore a little bit!
9. CF Polo Park's Reindeer and Ornament Light Displays
The gold, shimmering lights of CF Polo Park’s holiday displays are enough to leave even the biggest Grinch in awe. Experiment with angles at this one and get a photo so unique everyone will be commenting, “Where is this??” Find the displays near the mall's classic Santa photo-op.
Though we’ve passed Selkirk’s annual Holiday Alley weekend, the businesses which line the main street still boast more lights than you’ve ever seen in your life. Go in the evening and get creative with silhouettes – it’ll be your coolest photo yet!
