If you're in the mood for food, these three tasty options will make sure your belly is full well into 2020.
Enjoy a delectable French-inspired meal from Beaujena’s French Table in Winnipeg to ring in the new year. Seven delicious courses starting with foie gras and finishing off the evening with a chocolate olive oil cake.
The New Year's Eve party at the RBC Convention Centre is celebrating the new year and Manitoba's 150th year. The evening starts with hors d'oeuvres, then moves into a 5-course meal that represents the seasons in Manitoba. And at the end of the night, it's a dance party. This event is great for those who are both foodies and party animals.
As we enter a new decade it's nice to look back at the decade that has passed, or to look even further back.
As we head into a new decade of the 20s, why not celebrate by reminiscing on the1920s? Casey's Inn in Lac du Bonnet is encouraging everyone to come dressed in their best roaring 20s outfit to ring in the new year. If you're looking for something that combines today's modern beats and music of years past, then MEMETIC's Roaring 2020s NYE party at the Royal Albert Arms in Winnipeg will be the right fit for you. They'll be playing the finest "retro future dancefloor grooves" to countdown into the new year.
Club 200 is ringing in the new year with a look back at the terror (maybe that's a little dramatic) of Y2K 20 years ago! The DJ will be spinning all the best hits from the 2000s and some of Winnipeg's best drag stars will be there to toast the new year at midnight.
The Park Theatre hosts a decade themed New Year's Eve party every year and in 2019 they're feeling funky as they head into the countdown with bell bottom jeans and the groovy tunes of the 70s.
Got little ones who won't make it to midnight? Or don't think you'll make it to midnight? Here are a few daytime options to celebrate the last day of the year.
Ring in the new year at noon at the Children's Museum. Get dolled up in your fanciest (but still fun) formal wear for Top Hats & Tiaras, a New Year's "Eve" celebration featuring live music, hands-on science activities, family photo opportunities and a ginger ale toast! The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. so it's great for little sleepy heads who won't make it to midnight.
Head into 2020 with a cheer for the Manitoba Moose. They play their final game of the year and of this decade on December 31 at 4 p.m. It's also the Shutout Hunger Food Drive so bring a tin for the bin and help Winnipeg Harvest start the decade on the right foot too!
Release all of the bad energy of the past year and rise into 2020 with Chaturangas + Champagne, a yoga event in Winnipeg. The class is for all levels and will end with a toast of Champagne or sparkling juice to say goodbye to last year and hello to a new decade.
Get active or get outside and enjoy winter to the fullest with these New Year's Eve celebrations.
Head to the beach for New Year's Eve? But of course! The Winnipeg Beach Community Centre is hosting a New Year's Eve Family Skate Party. Music, skating and food from the canteen – what a Canadian way to ring in the new year!
Hit the ski hill and don't stop until the clock strikes midnight at Asessippi's Family New Years Eve. If you don't want to ski there are tons of family friendly activities as well, including face painting, a colouring competition, movies and games, and two fireworks shows – one at 9:15 and one at midnight. And this year there will also be a classic Manitoba social with live music, a midnight lunch and raffle prizes!
The Forks is a great place to be year round, but on New Year's Eve it's even more special. Go skating or sledding, hop on a horse drawn wagon ride, get a picture at the Parks Canada photo booth and grab a bite from the restaurants in the food hall. If you've got little ones, join the family countdown and mini fireworks at 8 p.m. or stay up for the grand fireworks spectacle at midnight.
The Zoo Lights Festival has been a huge hit this month and will wrap up on January 5th, 2020. If you haven't had the chance to see it yet, or even if you have, New Year's Eve will be an amazing time to take part in the festivities at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. In addition to the incredible light displays there will be live music from Red Moon Road, drag performances and workshops, fire dancing, storytelling with local Indigenous elders and a late night party in Polar Town. This is a great even for those who want to enjoy the outdoors but still want a place to warm up when needed.
