Located in the arrivals section of the airport, you don't actually need to be getting on a flight to try the sleek and stylish Flight Club restaurant. This new dining concept features a fusion menu created by Chef Fung (and executed by Chef Ramina Ritual) that will appease even the most particular eaters - from the sweet freshly squeezed juices to tried and true sandwiches to a signature lamb shank.

The only problem with a menu this varied is when it comes to making a decision. We highly recommend the jumbo shrimp wonton soup and the nasi goreng (sweet fried rice with peanut chicken skewers), as well as the crowd-pleasing nacho bowl. There's also plenty on the menu for those with dietary restrictions - from the vegetarian red curry to the gluten free shiromiso salmon.

The Flight Club is a great option for those who wish to gather with family and friends prior to saying bon voyage. Trust us when we say that the service here is second to none, with attentive and friendly staff who aim to please.

And for a quick bite before or after your flight, be sure to stop by to try the liquid nitrogen-based ice cream with flavours like matcha tea, Madagascar vanilla and (OMG) maple bacon.

I'll admit it: I had never considered going into an airport lounge, even when faced with long layovers. That was a mistake. As I've just learned, the Plaza Premium Lounge, located in international/domestic departures, is a serene oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the YWG airport.

Here, you can lounge in comfortable chairs and computer stations (with WIFi and outlets, of course) while enjoying your fill of delicious food and drinks prior to your flight.

With walk-in rates starting at $50+ tax (and check your credit card, some have perks like free entrance into lounges), the expense pays for itself with unlimited food and beverage - including up to 4 alcoholic drinks from the bar. Food is served buffet style and includes one main entree (during our visit it was pork buttons and yellow rice), as well as a variety of salads, cookies, appetizers and desserts (the chocolate mousse was scrumptious).

The relaxing atmosphere of the lounge is made possible by muting airline announcements, so you want to make sure you keep an eye on the flight screen for any changes to your itinerary. Happy travels!
