10 things to do in Manitoba: May 15 to 21

It's time to see more of Manitoba and May is no exception! Stop by to sssssssseeee the world famous red-sided garter snakes of Narcisse, make your way to the Manito Ahbee festival to learn about Indigenous culture, reminisce in the nostalgia of a used book store, and go to a Goldeye's Game. All because, why not? Here are 10 things to do this week in Manitoba!

1. BYOB - Bring your own binoculars

Get ready to BYOB - Bring Your Own Binoculars! Head on over to the Riverbank Discovery Centre for their upcoming Bird Walk Tour. This site plays host to many different species of birds. The bird walk will be led by a local experienced birder, and give participants the chance to see these birds and learn more about them. This program is open to those of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced bird watchers. If you are interested in getting started in birdwatching, this is a great opportunity to begin! 2. ssssseee snakes at the Narcisse dens

Thinking of a trip to see the world famous red-sided garter snakes of Narcisse? It's about a one hour drive north from Winnipeg to the Narcisse Snake Dens. Sunny days are always best for snake viewing. There's a large gravel parking lot and the trails throughout the site are well-packed crushed limestone. Snake activity updates can be found here! Washrooms are available, but primitive (outhouses / privies). Bring your own food and drink, or you can stop in one of our small town eateries along the way.

Explore Pinawa a different way - by bicycle! Opt in for a 2 hour self guided e-bike adventure. This self guided tour will take you on a sight seeing treasure hunt. Bike a loop of Pinawa that showcases all the sights that make Pinawa a hidden gem in the boreal forest. The self guided tour will direct you to the sundial, reflection benchmark project, diversion dam, suspension bridge and a spectacular view point over looking the Pinawa Channel!

Opening May 20 at the Assiniboine Park Zoo, Wildlife Rescue: Miracles in Conservation is an eye-opening, interactive, animal experience that’s fun for the whole family. The Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Wildlife Rescue is included with regular admission!
