If you’re just ambling out of hibernation from our frigid prairie winter, we have some exciting news for you: The JUNO’s are coming to town! Get out and have some fun during JUNO Week, when the crème de la crème of the Canadian music scene storm the city for a jam-packed week of activities, concerts and events. Whatever your interests, JUNO Week has something to capture your attention.
Are you a hockey fan? Shoot on down to the JUNO Cup and watch your favourite rockers, led by captain Jim Cuddy (Blue Rodeo) as they take on The NHL Greats (including several former Winnipeg Jets). All proceeds from this fun, competitive, non-contact game benefit MusiCounts, a national music education charity.
Are you an avid concert goer? Canadian music hits the streets at JUNOfest 2014 with a multi-venue showcase of over 100 local, regional, and national acts. Nightly line-ups feature three or four acts per venue with established and developing artists sharing the stage.
Perhaps you dream of coming face to face with your favourite artist? Dreams do come true at JUNO Fan Fare. This free public event at St. Vital Centre on March 29th is one of the most popular events of JUNO Week. Tickets/wristbands are required. Visit www.junoawards.ca for further info on how to get your hands on these!
Would you like to get up-close and personal with one of Canada’s musical legends? Join Randy Bachman as he hosts the JUNO Songwriters’ Circle, bringing together some of today’s most talented Canadian singer-songwriters to share songs and stories on stage.
Maybe you want to be at the heart of all the action? The grand finale of this week-long celebration is being held at MTS Centre on Sunday, March 30, 2014. The 2014 JUNO Awardswill celebrate the best and the brightest musical talent from across the country. The evening’s festivities will be co-hosted by JUNO Award winning artists Classified, Johnny Reid and Serena Ryder. Performers include Gord Bamford, Tegan and Sara, Robin Thicke, Matt Mays and Dean Brody, to name but a few. Special presenters include eight-time JUNO Award winner Sarah McLachlan, and Team Jennifer Jones, the gold medal winners for Women’s Curling at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. This is an evening you definitely do NOT want to miss!
