Travel Manitoba’s new television spots made their Canadian debut during the Olympics, pushing web traffic on travelmanitoba.com significantly higher than normal for mid- to late-February. Travel Manitoba expects another bump in traffic at the end of March, as the spots air during the Juno Awards.
“Exposure during these highly viewed broadcasts is helping us make a strong first impression before the sustained campaign begins in the spring,” said Colin Ferguson, Travel Manitoba CEO. “The Olympic air time was a particularly good buy for us because Canadians were so engaged in these games.”
During the Olympics, the spots aired a total of 236 times on CBC (Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary) and TSN. During the Junos, the spots will air three times in each of these regional markets and once nationally.
Additional value will be leveraged through Travel Manitoba’s participation on the Winnipeg Juno Host Committee/Year of Music. As a presenting sponsor, Travel Manitoba will be able to screen the commercials prior to all Juno Week events at the Metropolitan Entertainment Centre.
Daily traffic to travelmanitoba.com during the Olympics peaked on February 19 at 1,110 visitors, nearly 500 more than usual.
