Manitoba is taking over Canadian Geographic Travel. The Summer 2015 issue of the magazine will be dedicated solely to Manitoba. In this special partnership, Travel Manitoba is working directly with Canadian Geographic Travel, including up to 12 of the magazine's top writers and photographers, to create an entire issue featuring only Manitoba stories and photos. With 135,000 subscribers, 20,000 copies on newsstands and 8,000 copies in Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges, the magazine will provide a unique marketing opportunity for Travel Manitoba and our partners.
Canadian Geographic's audience shares many similarities with Travel Manitoba's target groups of Cultural Explorers and Authentic Experiencers. Like these Explorer Quotient types, the magazine's core audience enjoy active outdoor adventure, experiencing incredible scenery and relaxing with a beverage. Canadian Geographic readers also like to vacation in Canada, with almost half taking two or more trips in Canada in the past year.
In addition to the printed magazine, the project will feature extra online editorial, videos and social media content for a total reach of over 4 million across all Canadian Geographic platforms. Part of the social media promotion will include a photo contest for the Canadian Geographic Photo Club - Canada's largest online community of photography enthusiasts, with 65,000 members and over 200,000 photos uploaded.
Partnership opportunities in this and other initiatives will be rolled out this fall.
