Recreation Site

Whether you want to play a relaxing round of golf or attack whitewater rapids on a raging river, Manitoba has a campground close to the action. You can paddle a canoe on placid waters on hundreds of lakes and streams, and add an easy portage or two at sites like Caddy Lake and Frances Lake in the Whiteshell and on Beaver Lake in Duck Mountain Provincial Park. More adventurous paddlers can hit the Whiteshell River or the Assiniboine River route in Spruce Woods Provincial Park. And if you're up for an extreme challenge in a remote wilderness, set a course for the Gammon and Bloodvein rivers in Atikaki Provincial Park.

Hiking, biking, fishing, geocaching and horseback riding are all popular in the Whiteshell and in Riding Mountain National Park, which has an equine campground with a horse corral. Sherridon Kississing Lake Campground is tailor-made for anglers, with a boat launch, freezer house and fish-cleaning station. Mountain bikers will appreciate the terrain around La Riviere and in Turtle Mountain Provincial Park. And when you want to go golfing, hiking, birdwatching and boating within steps of your site, you're in luck. Try Gull Harbour Campground on Hecla Island or choose from a range of similar options at camping spots throughout the province.
