This year, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra's New Music Festival celebrates the relationship between Pierre Boulez, reflecting the deep rooted contemporary traditions in Europe, and Frank Zappa, the American maverick and iconoclast, who began the process of breaking down genres of all types.
Jan 26 | Birds Hill Provincial Park
Trek down the Cedar Bog Trail with the Park Interpreter to discover the serene beauty of the bog in winter. Look for signs of the pukak layer and uncover the mystery of these little creatures that brave the cold without any adaptations. Lightweight snowshoes are available for youth and adults and fit any size of winter boot. Or you can bring your own! Please dress warmly for this 3.5 km hike. WRAPPED: The Mummy of Pesed

For the first time in 45 years a real Egyptian mummy will be on display in Winnipeg! The Manitoba Museum’s temporary exhibit, WRAPPED: The Mummy of Pesed, showcases Pesed, “The Shining One”, a mummy and her coffin, and includes over 60 ancient Egyptian antiquities, CT scans and forensic facial reconstructions of Egyptian mummies.
