With glowing hearts, from far and wide, let's all celebrate Canada's birthday with a happy bang! Here's our list of some of the fun events happening around the province on July 1st:


1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.| Riverbank Discovery Centre, Brandon

Get ready for a Canada Day of fun for the whole family in Brandon! Events include Brandon Riverbank Duck Race, hay rides, face painting, origami, kids stage and magic show, museum displays and fireworks!

Lower Fort Garry

9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. | Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site of Canada

Get FREE admission at Lower Fort Garry to enjoy one of Canada's unique historic places. There will be kids crafts, entertainment, face painting, and yummy cake!

Oak Hammock Marsh

10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. | Oak Hammock Marsh

Celebrate Canada day at the Marsh. Bring the family for an exciting day of outdoor fun, face painting, and crafts. Cupcakes will be served at 2 p.m. Horse-drawn wagon rides from 12:00 to 3:30 p.m.

Riding Mountain National Park


Celebrate this country’s 147th birthday in national park style. Get FREE entry into the park to enjoy a citizenship ceremony, giant cake, live entertainment, kid's activities, and fireworks nearby.


Manitoba Ave. (11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.); Waterfront Park (3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.)

Selkirk will be hopping on Canada Day! There will be a 5 km run, food vendors, wrestling, live entertainment, street hockey, kids zone, geocaching, sand castle building contest, volleyball tournament and a great fireworks dislplay.


10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. | Thompson Regional Community Centre

Thompson is going all around the globe to celebrate Canada Day with performances featuring Korean, Aboriginal, Cuban, German, Indian and Mexican cultures. Plus a pancake/hot dog brunch, arts & crafts activities, family games and a performance by Seanster & The Monsters.


Canada Day Living Flag

9:00 a.m. to noon | The Forks in front of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights

Come be part of the country's largest living flag and pose for the ultimate Canada Day photo. First 2,000 get a free t-shirt!

Osborne Village Canada Day Street Festival

Jun 30 to Jul 1 | Osborne Street

Relax at one of the many oversized patios, treat yourself to a gift from the market, munch on delicious food, then take in a band and a cold bevy at the Osborne Village Canada Day Street Festival. That’s not all, don’t forget to bring the kids to the Family Zone (now at Gertrude and Osborne), which features more inflatable bouncers, obstacle courses, child entertainers and pony rides

Canada Day at The Forks

1:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. | The Forks

This is one national birthday party not to be missed. Family friendly activities all day long include musicians, buskers, crafts and entertainment everywhere you look. Local talent fills The Forks with three stages of spectacular entertainment. This year’s stellar Scotiabank Stage lineup includes Del Barber, Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. The evening closes with a captivating fireworks display at 11:00 p.m.(weather permitting).

Canad Day Picnic in the Park

1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. | Lyric Theatre, Assiniboine Park

Celebrate Canada Day at a Picnic in the Park! This family oriented day is FREE to all and a great way to celebrate our nation’s birthday in beautiful Assiniboine Park. The fun include games and activities for children, entertainment, birthday cake and a spectacular fireworks display.
