When the summer heat becomes too much, cool off with a day exploring and learning at the Manitoba Museum
Behind the Scenes tours
Take a behind-the-scenes tour (FREE with Museum admission) and get the inside scoop on how exhibits are created, and how over 2.8 million artifacts and specimens
are collected and preserved. You will see treasures not accessible to regular visitors.
Tours run Monday to Friday during July and August (except Aug 5). They begin at 1:30 p.m. and last approximately 45 minutes. A maximum of 10 people can join each group, and you can sign up at the front desk (and show up at 1:25 pm).
Discovery Day Camps
are held weekly throughout July and August, and offer a great way for young minds to continue learning over their summer holidays. There are seven camps in all, from July 8 until August 30 (no camp August 6-10). The camps introduce children to subjects such as archaeology, space and zoology.
Please note, several of the camps are sold out, with best availability the week of July 29 to August 2.
Planetarium debuts new shows
The Planetarium has two new shows
playing on their Digistar technology. Ice Worlds
explores the many roles of ice, both here on Earth and in other places around the solar system. Dark: The Movie
sheds some light on the mysteries of dark matter.
Open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Until September 2)
