Motor Country Club centennial at Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site Celebrate the Motor Country Club's centennial on Fab Forts Weekend at Lower Fort Garry! In 1913 the Winnipeg Automobile Club, an avant-garde group of motoring enthusiasts, leased Lower Fort Garry from the Hudson’s Bay Company and established the Motor Country Club. With the Big House as its clubhouse, this private club flourished for nearly fifty years, offering a range of amenities and activities to its members. For the first time, a display of classic and antique automobiles will be held within the walls of the fort. Over 20 vehicles, spanning the decades from the early 1900s to the present day, will be featured in the fort’s historic setting. There will be special tours and displays focused on the Motor Country Club era at Lower Fort Garry, as well as a mini-golf course, Manitoba Public Insurance’s “Mini-Car Town” for kids, and much more included in the regular entry fee.
