If you are making your way downtown this summer you might notice larger-than-life marble sculptures around Air Canada Park (corner of Portage Avenue and Carlton Street). This new public artwork display, Marbles on Portage, is by local artist Erica Swendrowski. Erica sought to create a unique, playful atmosphere within Winnipeg’s historic downtown. The marbles captivate the imagination of young and old alike and reveal how familiar everyday items can make life extraordinary. Throughout August and September, you can take a guided tour of this public artwork. Tours are on Tuesday (12:00 to 1:00 p.m.) or Wednesday (6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.). To pre-register for a tour or find out more about this public artwork, visit Downtown Winnipeg BIZ.
