It's Manitoba time! Well, August is flying by, isn’t it? It does this to us every year! Have you had a chance to check off everything on your summer to-do list? Are you looking for a few ideas to add? This weekend, if you aren’t already salivating for free corn and apple cider in Morden, taking in some good tennis, or celebrating the harvest at Lower Fort Garry, here are more fun things to do:

Movies in the Park

August 24 | Assiniboine Park, Winnipeg Bring a chair or spread out a blanket in front of the Lyric Theatre and get ready to watch free, family-favourite blockbusters on an outdoor screen. Tonight’s features are Dr. Seuss' The Lorax (7:00 p.m.) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (9:15 p.m.) This is the last movie night of the season!

Carnaval Street Party

August 24 to 25 | Bannatyne Avenue, Winnipeg Dance your way over to Winnipeg’s first Carnaval celebration on Bannatyne Avenue (between Rorie Street and Waterfront Drive). A street patio like no other will include live music, great food and dance. Live entertainment will be on stage Friday and Saturday night from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Manitoba Barrel Racing

August 24 to 26 | Hamiota, Manitoba Catch the action in Hamiota this weekend when the Manitoba Barrel Racing finals get underway. Hold your breath as the barrel racers battle it out to complete the course in the fastest time!

Boo in the Park

August 25 | Wasagaming, Manitoba Halloween is so nice, we should have it twice! On Saturday, Wasagaming will be overrun with princesses and superheroes, ghosts and goblins and the streets will be festooned with spider webs and pumpkins. Wear your costume and trick-or-treat at local businesses that will feature spooky games, a haunted house and some really elaborate decorations!

Subway Asessippi Music Fest

August 25 | Asessippi Resort, Manitoba There might be no snow on the ground, but that doesn’t mean Asessippi resort stands still. Head out there this weekend for their music festival. From acoustic folk and bluegrass, to jazz and classic rock, you’ll hear a bit of everything at this family-oriented event.

Impossible Animals

On until September 3 | Manitoba Children’s Museum, Winnipeg Looking for one last summer outing before packing back packs? Take the kids to the Impossible Animals exhibit at the Children’s Museum where they will discover first-hand the characteristics of living things as they explore the who, what, where, and why of creatures they create. Imagine a world where sharks fly and bees hop… Impossible? Not at Impossible Animals!

Have a fabulous last weekend in August, and be sure to make the most of it!
