Did you feel that little nip in the air this morning? That’s our signal that we only have so much summer left and it’s time to make the most of it. This weekend, if you aren’t already gearing up to catch a cat at the locks
, feast in the parkland
or relax with some blues, brews and BBQ
, here are more fun things to do:
Open daily at noon
| Adrenaline Adventures, Winnipeg
Are you experiencing a sports hangover now that the Olympics are over? Get your adrenaline pumping again with a trip to Adrenaline Adventures and try climbing their ropes and zipline course or ride (xorb) down a hill inside a massive plastic ball.
August 17 to 19
| Shaw Park, Winnipeg
Maybe extreme adventures aren’t your thing, but you still want to enjoy some sporty action. What’s better than a ballgame in summer? The Goldeyes begin a three-game series against the St. Paul Saints this weekend and they currently lead the Saints by five games for a wild card spot. Visit Ticketmaster
to purchase tickets.
August 17 to 19
| Stonewall, Manitoba
Rock out to Aaron Pritchett
at the Quarry this weekend! This weekend event also has a midway, petting zoo, live entertainment, and Friday Fireworks. There is plenty of food, shopping and fun for the whole family.
| Birds Hill Provincial Park
Grab a flashlight, binoculars and a blanket and look up at the night sky to learn how the stars and planets play a role in our lives and nature. No need for a telescope, the park interpreters will give you tips on how to star-gaze without one.
August 18 to 19
| Kelwood, Manitoba
Fresh food and marvelous music are in abundance at this small festival. This fun-filled family event has a large line up of performers and a farmers market with some of Manitoba’s best farmers and gardeners offering up organic produce, naturally raised prairie beef, preserves and much more. Yum!
