2010 Value of Tourism

Spending on tourism helps support over 5,200 businesses and directly sustains about 12,000 jobs. Tourism in Manitoba currently generates $492 million in export revenue, $243.4 million in provincial tax revenues and $60.8 million in Municipal tax revenues.

Nationally, in 2010, tourism spending totalled $74.2 billion in Canada. This spending generates approximately $9.4 billion in federal taxes and $9.7 billion in provincial taxes.

Due to a change in methodology introduced for the 2006 reporting year, the Statistics Canada Travel Survey of Residents of Canada (TSRC) data cannot be compared to those of previous years. The 2006 TSRC is the new baseline year for domestic tourism.
