Featuring composer/arranger FRED STRIDE & vocalist HEITHA FORSYTH Fred Stride is no stranger to the work of Duke Ellington and the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra. He has presented the Duke’s sacred music many times to tremendous appreciation. Now he’s sharing with us one of Ellington’s true gems so rarely heard: Black, Brown and Beige. It’s a work that tackles the history of African Americans with the Duke’s characteristic refusal to be nothing less than swinging. We’ll also be serving up other Ellington delights including Jeff Presslaff’s arrangement of Caravan.
